Stepping Out In Faith 2009
St. Bede’s
Stewardship Campaign 2009
October 1, 2008
Dear Friends and Companions with
Christ:
St. Bede’s mission is to be a welcoming community gathering in the name
of Jesus Christ. In order to meet this mission our Vestry set
ambitious goals for this year. They are:
•
Enrich hospitality with emphasis on newcomers;
•
Improve the appearance of the undercroft;
•
Promote St. Bede’s in the local community to include
evangelism to those new to the Christian faith;
•
Increase outreach initiatives and improve congregational
involvement in those initiatives; and
•
Develop a parish-wide strategic plan.
The Vestry believes these goals and the new 2009 goals will
continue to affirm our mission. We are living in trying
times; the economy is bad, unemployment is up and the cost of living is
increasing every day. Despite the difficult circumstances,
we, the members of St. Bede’s Episcopal Church, recognize the blessings
we have been given.
We went on a mission trip to Mississippi
and worked on homes for Katrina survivors. We have continued
our response to the community’s need by assisting the Net Food Pantry,
Emmaus House, and Nicholas House. A Fair Trade alternative
gift market is planned for Advent. There continue to be
improvements to the buildings and grounds as well as Christian
Education and Music programs for all ages. Also our thanks go
out to the many parishioners who have generously assisted us in
“narrowing the gap” in our 2008 budget. Along with a caring
staff and our assisting clergy, these are just a few of the ways our
congregation has been blessed.
This year for the first time, you may make your pledge online and you
may also make your donation weekly, monthly, or quarterly on line; or
by bank draft; or by debit/credit card. We have added these
payment methods to offer you a secure method of payment and to off-set
any cash flow for the parish. With this method, you can also earn
travel points for your donations if you like. Of course, you
may continue to make payments in the traditional Sunday offering plate.
Again, you can make your pledge in two
ways: by completing and returning the enclosed pledge card and envelope
in support of our 2009 Stewardship Campaign or, by going to our website
www.stbedes.org, clicking the Giving Link and filling out the form on
our website.
All
of us are needed for the ministries of serving Christ and making Him
known in the world. Our pledges and monetary gifts help us
further this mission. Your commitment for the coming year
will be joyfully received and we thank you in advance for your
financial pledge in 2009. The church needs you now more than
ever and, with God’s help, we will meet the challenges ahead by
stepping out to answer Christ’s call with faithful, generous hearts.
Faithfully,
