Education for Ministry (EfM)

Education for Ministry is a program of The School of Theology of The University of the South (Sewanee).  Small groups of 6 to 12 persons meet weekly during the school year with a mentor or mentors.  While this is a four year program, individuals only make a commitment for one year at a time. There is a yearly fee for the program which includes all books.  Group members are sometimes able to receive a scholarship for their tuition from a member of the clergy of their home church. If you have a financial need, please discuss this with our EfM coordinator.

We are blessed at St. Bede's to have The Rev'd Lynnsay Buehler & Dr. Jo Marie Lyons as our long-time EfM co-mentors.

Every person has gifts for ministry and every person is a minister.  The EfM program provides people with the education and spiritual formation to discern their particular gifts for ministry as well as the support each group member needs to offer their ministry in the community.

EfM offers an opportunity to discover ways in which one is called to love and to serve God and our neighbor.
